Qazigund: Residents of Bokad-patti Bakerwal-Check Qazigund Friday blocked Srinagar Jammu highway against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department over non availability of potable water.

Women blocked the road while holding empty pots alleging that PHE Department has turned deaf ear to the problems being faced by them. “We are facing water scarcity from past twenty day’s and no one from the PHE Department has come to redress our problem,” they said.

The non-availability of the drinking water has ‘forced people to fetch water from distant places’.

Police officials rushed to the spot, as vehicular movement on the Srinagar- Jammu Highway was blocked. After assurance from SHO Qazigund Sahil Mahajan, that they will raise the issue with concerned department protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored.
