Srinagar:Police today used chilli pepper shells to disperse hundreds of Aganwadi workers who marched to Civil Secretariat here in support of their demands
Earlier hundreds of Aganwadi workers shouting anti government slogans marched from Pratap park to Civil Secretariat and staged a sit-in outside the gates of the Civil Secretariat
Some of the aganwadi workers fainted outside the Secretariat and police had a tough time to prevent them from entering the Secretariat.
The protesters raised slogans against Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Social Welfare Sajjad Gani Lone. They demanded that they should be allowed to meet the Chief Minister to listen to their grievances.
The Aganwadi workers are protesting for the past one month demanding an hike in their monthly honorarium from Rs 3600 to Rs 10,000 and regularization of their services.
