Srinagar: A week after Aganwadi workers called off their hunger strike following intervention by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, the workers today resumed their strike, on Tuesday, following ‘no development in the deadlock between them and the state government’.

Yasmeena Dar, protesting Aganwadi worker told INS that they had called off their hunger strike following assurances by the Div Com Kashmir last week, that their demands will be suitably addressed but after ‘more than ten days nothing has been done.’
“Today we met Div Com told us that he has formed some committee to look into our demands and it will take some time. We have now decided to resume our hunger strike until our just demands are met,” Yasmeena said.
Taking to INS Baseer Khan said that he has forwarded the grievances and demands of the Aganwadi workers to the concerned department.
“I have forwarded the demands of the Aganwadi workers who came to my office last week to the concerned department,” Khan said before hanging the phone.
Aganwadi workers from all over the state under the banner of All Aganwadi Workers and Helpers association are protesting from the past one month demanding an increase in their monthly honorarium from Rs3600 a month to Rs10,000 and regularization of their services.
