SHOPIAN: A joint checking team conducted inspection of pesticide dealers in which two erring dealers were fined for violation of different provisions of the Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) (Amendment) Act. 2011.

In view to safeguard the interest of consumers the Legal Metrology Unit of District Shopian under the supervision of Assistant controller conducted inspection of various markets of district Shopian and booked 92 cases against the erring traders for violation of different provisions of the standards of weights and measures (enforcement) (Amendment) Act 2011 during the current Financial year and a fine/composition of Rs: 95000 was realised.

During the drive the department booked various trades including 03 beverage dealers, 05 hardware dealers for selling packed products without MRP (Maximum Retail Price) besides the department booked 04 petrol retail outlets for short delivery, 04 bakers for short weight.

During the drive 3120 numbers of weighting and measuring instruments were standardized and a stamping fee of Rs 69000 was collected
