Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday called pro-Indian politicians as “double dealers” and accused them of raising “hue and cry” on Articles 370 and 35A to “retain and grab power corridors.”
“The role played by pro-Indian political parties, including National Conference, Congress, PDP and others during the recent people’s uprising against the abrogation of Article 35-A and 370 was ridiculous,” Geelani said in a statement.
“It was expected from them and that such political parties were responsible for the present grim situation in the state as far as the Muslim majority character of the state is concerned.”
Commenting over the statement of Indian Home Minister about Article 35 A, Geelani said that state pro-Indian parties have virtually submitted an “intentional surrender and their all parroting proved hoax and a pre-planned drama.”
“Hue and cry by them was just a mockery to retain and grab power corridors,” Geelani said and blamed pro-Indian parties for “exploiting” sentiments of innocent people.
“(These) political leaders are double dealers. Since last seven decades the subjugated people are suffering because of their hypocritical behaviour. “
Cautioning people about their deceit, the Geelani appealed the common people not to fall in line of these “political hypocrites” and be steadfast and serious about the “freedom movement for which whole the nation has offered innumerable sacrifices.”
“Denouncing” the arbitrary approach of NIA against leadership and pro-freedom people, the octogenarian leader said that pro-freedom leadership including Shabir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saif-ullah, Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayem Ahmed Khan, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Advocate Miyan Abdul Qayoom, Zameer Ahmad Sheikh, Kamran Yousuf, Sajjad Ahmed, Aga Syed Hassan and Ghulam Nabi Sumji were either unlawfully detained in Tihar jail or summoned by NIA.
He also hailed what he called the meritorious services and sacrifices rendered by deM Chief Aasiya Andrabi and her political secretary Sofi Fahmeeda. “They created laudable history and we salute them for their steadfastness, persistence & commitment,” he said, adding, “India’s judiciary has failed to bring justice to these brave ladies despite they were repeatedly bailed out by concerned courts,” Geelani said.
