Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday said that Kashmiri youth were picking up arms as a “last resort to resist.”
“Oppression and occupation is pushing the youth to wall, leaving them with no option other than to pick arms as a last resort to resist,” a spokesman of the Hurriyat Conference said while paying tributes to Sayir Ahmed Wani and Dawood Ilahi, who were killed in an encounter with government forces at Khudwani in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on wee hours of Monday.
The spokesman said Kashmiri people were fighting for a “just cause and their struggle has been acknowledged at the various world forums including UN.”
“People are offering priceless sacrifices for the right to self determination and keeping in view these sacrifices, entire Kashmiri nation is duty bound to remain steadfast towards the ultimate goal till it is realised,” he said.
The spokesman also expressed serious concern over the continuous detention of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Asiya Andrabi and her personnel secretary Sofi Fahmeeda. “Asiya Andrabi, who is suffering from various ailments, has been denied medical facilities in jail which can prove detrimental to her health,” the spokesman said and demand her immediate release.
The spokesman also condemned continuous detention of Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, in police station Kokernag, stating that he was suffering from multiple ailments and prolonging his detention may pose a life threat to him. The spokesman demanded his immediate release.
