The Sports festival 2017 scheduled to be inaugurated by DIG south Kashmir range today at Govt Degree College Khanabal, Anantnag at 3.30 PM has been cancelled after the Students of the college held a protest demonstration in the College premises today morning.
Students protested after police tried to hoist tricolor.
Protesting students burnt podium, make shift tents and ransacked the place.
Clashes erupted between government forces and protestors leading to stone throwing. Police resorted to tear gas shelling.
