Twenty vehicles have been challaned in violation of the ban on uncovered ferrying of construction material order.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir division Baseer Ahmad Khan told INS that they have already imposed heavy chalan on twenty vehicles.
“The aim is to minimize the pollution in the city, initially the order has been issued for vehicles plying within the limits of Srinagar. But very soon we will extend it to other districts,” Khan told INS.
Last week Div Com had banned the uncovered ferrying of construction material and also reviewed measures to effectively monitor and stop ferrying of uncovered construction material in vehicles.
The div com had observed that the building material in the shape of sand, bricks, bajri, dust, cement, etc. are being transported uncovered which leads to the flying-off of the dust of the material particles causing air pollution and other environmental issues, besides also polluting water bodies in the process.
Urging people to co operate Div Com said that if any person finds violation of the order ‘he should contact the concerned SDPO’s, SHO’s and Naib Tehsildars of the concerned area for proper action.”
