Srinagar: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) proposed  march towards Governor House in Srinagar was Monday foiled by police, call for Kashmir bandh on Aug 29.

KEA co-chairman Farooq Ahmed Dar along other members tried to take out the procession from city centre however police swung into action and thwarted the march.

Dar and other members were detained by police later.

The protest march was called to protests against the proposed abrogation of Article 35Ain Jammu and Kashmir.

Before being whisked away by police Dar told reporters that their amalgam calls upon ‘all to hoist black flags over residential houses, commercial establishments, landmarks and squares on August 29. Hearing on Article 35A is slated in Supreme Court on the same date.

“Protest march  will be organized on Aug 29. We will march in unison from Press Enclave to High court. We will lodge our discontent against attempts to abrogate Article 35-A,” Dar said, adding that they plan to submit memorandum to chief Justice of High court.

In addition to hoisting of ‘black flags, protest march’ KEA also called for a Kashmir Bandh on Aug 29.
