Srinagar: A 45-year-old man from Old City’s Hawal area died at SKIMS on Sunday, less than 12-hours after suffering serious injuries in a blast near Dalgate, the tourism hub of this summer capital of the state.
According to the officails, the man, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Amda Kadal Hawal, succumbed to the injuries at around 3 a.m in the Valley’s only tertiary care Hospital.
Mir was initially shifted to SMHS hospital and later he was referred to SKIMS for specialized treatment.
There is still confusion on the nature of the blast that took place at Budyari Chowk in Dalgate on Saturday afternoon.
While police says it was a Molotov cocktail (petrol bomb), a local news agency quoting unnamed doctors at SKIMS said that Mir had splinter wounds, suggesting it to be a grenade blast.
Meanwhile, after conducting post-mortem and completing legal formalities, the police has handed over the body to his family for last rites.
