Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) expressed their utter disbelief, shock and surprise over the unwarranted and uncalled for house arrest of its leaders, Dr. Mubeen Shah and Mohammad Yasin Khan (who were put under house arrest on Sunday).
Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC), Convener, said in a statement to KNS that the members called an emergency meeting and said that it was most unfortunate that the business community and civil society, considered responsible and respectable in entire globe, is being subjected to humiliation and vendetta in the so called democracy here.
“The members informed that the state was further planning certain action against some of the leaders of JKCC in order to malign their image and create confusion which, however, was vowed to be resisted with strength. People have seen through this and Govt’s try is now an exercise in futility.”
“The members presumed that the house arrest of these leaders has been undertaken because of the ‘One-hour long Silent Sit-in’ programme announced by JKCC for Tuesday which has unnerved and un-settled the state government. However, this unwise decision of the government will in no way shake the resolve of civil society and traders fraternity to fight against the unjust and misplaced surrender and barter of fiscal autonomy and sovereignty enjoyed by the State under special provisions of Article 370.”
JKCC has informed that the silent sit-in programme announced for one hour at 11.0 AM at Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk stands as announced which shall be joined by people at large including the traders and consumers to press the demand of roll back of GST law.
The JKCC has made it amply clear that the deceitful extension of the GST Law does not concern traders alone but all the citizens of J&K state. If people sleep on this issue then many more erosions suicidal for our survival and demography may also follow.
The JKCC cautioned the government to desist from undemocratic ways and means to scuttle a pure democratic exercise to be undertaken by the people. It is further suggested that the members of JKCC should not be harassed and pushed to the wall which otherwise may lead to serious repercussions.
The JKCC further cautions the state government of serious consequences if its leaders are not released immediately before Monday. (KNS)
