Srinagar, Aug 03 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and Mirwaiz of Kashmir, who continues to be under house arrest, addressed the Friday gathering at Jamia Masjid over phone.
Mirwaiz said after eight Friday’s the Government has finally allowed congregational prayers at the central historic mosque but with heavy deployment of forces to ensure no major gathering takes place in the mosque.
Addressing the gathering Mirwaiz said that people of Kashmir are being subject to all kinds of state oppression and curbs and even our religious places are a target of state repression.
Strongly condemning the killing of yet another civilian Ghulam Mohiudin Bhat of Arwani by the Indian forces, and paying tributes to Yawar Nisar Mirwaiz said each day we lose civilians and our youth to the Indian forces, as if they are not human beings and there is no value to their life.
Mirwaiz said it is extremely sad that people of Kashmir have lost the right to life because they are demanding the resolution of the Kashmir dispute which is essentially a humanitarian problem through political means.
Mirwaiz said another front that has been opened by the Indian state is through its investigative agencies and its media to malign the people’s movement, defame the leadership and demoralize the people.
He said even religious and educational institutions that hold a special reverence and respect for the people the Anjuman -e-Auqaf, Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul Islam and Dar-ul-Khair like institutions are being targeted by the so called NIA of India.
Mirwaiz said such tactics employed by the Government of India to defame the genuine sentiment in Kashmir and to build pressure on the pro-freedom leadership have failed in the past and are destined to taste defeat too this time .He said despite such aggressive stance adopted by the New Delhi, the entire Kashmiri nation is committed to its goal of seeking dignified resolution of Kashmir issue.
He said Kashmiris have given tremendous sacrifices for this cause for the last seven decades and our struggle is based on justice and democratic principles.
Mirwaiz urged people to remain steadfast and show forbearance at this critical juncture in our political struggle.
Meanwhile Hurriyat (M) spokesman strongly denouncing the continuous house arrest of its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, since past 45 days, barring him from carrying out social, political and religious activities.
The spokesman said that on the basis of military might, the ruling regime has muzzled the political, religious and social rights of resistance leaders.
The spokesman said that government on the directions of its mentors in New Delhi has declared war against Kashmir’s resistance camp and the people on all fronts as majority of pro-freedom leaders have been caged, many arrested and dozens taken into custody.
The spokesman also condemned the continuous lodgment of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza at police station Sherbagh, Islamabad stating that Waza is already suffering from multiple ailments and hence should be immediately released. (KNS)
