Srinagar: Authorities on Monday foiled the protest march of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Departments Clerical Staff Association (JKLDCSA) and detained scores of its members when they tried to march towards Civil Secretariat here to press the government over their demands.
According to KNS correspondent, the protesting association assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.
They were demanding immediate removal of pay Disparity or Anomaly.
The association said that the government has failed to look into the issues confronting the employees. “We have been left to face hardships as the government don’t even bother to look into the hardships what we are facing,” they said.
They said that the government must look into the sufferings of employees and should take concrete steps in this regard so that the employees could feel a sigh of relief. “We demand the government to remove the pay disparity or anomaly, which is leaving hundreds of employees to suffer. Our demands must be fulfilled at earliest,” they said.
Meanwhile, the protesters later tried to march towards Civil Secretariat to press the government over their demands.
However, as soon as they tried to come out from the Press Enclave, Police swung into action and detained scores of its members.
The detained employees were lodged at Kothi Bagh Police Station. (KNS)
