Div Com presides over opening of SSB’s Rescue and Relief Team

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner, Srinagar-(J&K), Baseer Ahmad Khan, IAS, presided over the formal opening of the Rescue & Relief Team (RRT) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at 10TH Bn Hqrs Tatoo Ground Batmaloo as Chief Guest Saturday 29.
During his visit, R.K. Bhumbla, DIG SHQ (Spl.Ops.) SSB Srinagar (J&K) welcomed the Chief Guest and enlightened about the previous achievements of SSB.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is one of the Central Armed Police Force working under control of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. Three Battalions of SSB have been deployed in Kashmir valley since 2013 with its Sector Headquarters (Spl Ops) at Srinagar. In Jammu & Kashmir, SSB has been performing multi-dimensional duties like Medical Civic Action, Veterinary Civic Action, All India Study Tour, Sports Activities, Computer Training, Tailoring, Vocational training etc. besides performing law & order & CI Ops duties. During September 2014 devastating flood in Srinagar, SSB had conducted rescue & relief work in Srinagar besides conducting Medical Civic Action, which has been appreciated by the local population, though there were no rescue & relief team established at Srinagar at that time.
Now on taking a cue from the devastating flood of September, 7th, 2014 in Srinagar and natural calamities i.e. Flood, Cloud burst, Earthquake, Fire incident etc. in the other places of the country, Sashastra Seema Bal has decided to establish Rescue & Relief Team (RRT) at 18 Sector Headquarter of its deployment including Jammu and Kashmir to cope up with the situation promptly.
Accordingly, SHQ (Spl Ops) Srinagar has established well trained and fully equipped Rescue & Relief Team (RRT). All the components of RRT including General Duty (GD), Medical, Veterinary, Communication Cadres & Mahila incumbents etc. will invariably accompany the RRT wherever the team needs to carry out rescue & relief work. During Opening Ceremony, various demonstrations on rescue and relief operations were demonstrated by the SSB RRT in the presence of other dignitaries. The Divisional Commissioner has also appreciated the demonstrations and encouraged the team members to achieve the assigned goal. He also assured to extend all possible assistances in this regard. The Divisional Commissioner, during his visit interacted with all other officers and jawans of SSB available at 10th Bn. SSB Tatoo Ground Batmaloo and appreciated the sincerity and devotion of SSB troops in all kinds of duties assigned to them. (KNS)
