Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) strongly denounced the imposition of undeclared curfew in downtown, barring prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid for the sixth consecutive Friday and keeping the chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention for the past more than a month and half.
In a statement to KNS, Hurriyat (M) also strongly condemned at the slapping of PSA against 31 year old Atif Hassan a political activist for his affiliation and support to the peoples movement and the shameless beating up of the mother and three sisters of Tauseef Ahmed of Rampura Kulgam by the Indian forces.
Hurriyat Conference (M) spokesman said there is no let up to oppression on the people of Kashmir. Kashmiris are killed brutally, arrested and detained, Mosques locked up, curfews imposed, leadership persecuted and citizens harassed. What is worse is that even those forces personnel who are convicted in fake encounters are set free in a mockery of justice.
Hurriyat (M) said the ongoing movement in Kashmir is people’s political struggle based on the priceless sacrifices offered by them from of all age groups over the past several decades. The spokesman said that State is leaving no stone unturned by resorting to dictatorial and illegal methods through its agencies who are also used now as its mouthpiece in justifying oppression and then giving sermons on propriety and righteousness.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said that as per the program announced by the Joint Resistance Leadership, peaceful protests were staged in various Masjids and shrines across the Valley against the suspension of punishment to five soldiers involved in the fake encounter case of 2010 in Machil, Kupwara by the Army Tribunal.
They also protested the lock down of Jamia Masjid and arrest of Hurriyat leaders by the NIA on baseless and concocted charges. In this regard APHC activists also staged a peaceful protest at Aali Masjid Eidgah. (KNS)
