Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah Wednesday alleged that PDP won 2014 Assembly elections with the support of the Hurriyat.
Talking to KNS, Abdullah said that PDP was supported by Hurriyat and people in Kashmir know it.
“It is true. Everyone in Kashmir knows it. Who says it is not true. They (PDP) will deny it but people know it and should check the facts,” he said.
Reacting over the recent statements made by PDP, he said, “I am not afraid of PDP. Let them say what they have to say.”
On the passing of the Collection of Statistics (Amendment) Bill, 2017, in Rajya Sabha, he said that it was passed in Parliament when he was not MP.
“The Bill was strongly opposed by Congress in Rajya Sabha. But it was passed in Parliament when I was not the member,” he said.
Meanwhile, India Today reported that Farooq Abdullah as having said that Mehbooba is hand-in-glove with Hurriyat
“Their stronghold lies in South Kashmir. There lies the answer. Ask the government to probe this. She (Mehbooba) is hand-in-glove with Hurriyat. One of her ministers write the statements that (separatist leader Syed Ali Shah) Geelani give,” Abdullah added.
He said that the arrest of eight separatist leaders for receiving funds from Pakistan to create unrest in the Valley is a “good move”.
“It is a very good development. We all know where is the money coming from,” Abdullah said.
He said that it was no surprise that reports suggested that Jammu and Kashmir Police stalled the movement of arrested separatist leaders from Srinagar to Delhi on Monday evening.
High Drama is alleged to have played out at the airport as the seven arrested were being moved by the NIA because the state government was upset it wasn’t kept in the loop about the arrests it was only after the ministry of Home Affairs and intervened that the NIA could carry forthwith its job.
“You should hold the government of Kashmir and the Chief Minister responsible for this, The BJP should break up with them,” Farooq Abdullah, according to India Today, added. (KNS)
