DGP visits Baramulla to reward Jawans, officers for their contribution

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S.P Vaid today visited Range Police Headquarter Baramulla to reward and honour the Jawans and Officers, who had contributed in anti-militancy operations in Baramulla-Kupwara-Bandipora Range.
These Jawans and Officers were hounoured at an impressive Darbar held in District Police Lines Baramulla. The Darbar, among others was attended by IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP North Kashmir Range, AIG (P), AIG (P&T), AIG (Building) PHQ, District SsP, Addl. SsP and other senior police officers of the range.
Complementing the Jawans and officers of the North Police Range for their efforts in maintenance of law & order and also achievements on anti-militancy front, the DGP said that police efforts to wipe out the militancy for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the valley will continue.
While referring to the work and functioning of the police in north Kashmir Range, Dr. Vaid expressed his satisfaction and said that during the past few months police has shown excellent results on various fronts including war against drugs, disposal of crime and day to day policing. He said that more than sixty youth, who had joined militant ranks, have been weaned away and by this we have saved not only sixty lives but sixty families.
Referring to the recent successes of the police in recovering around eighty Kgs of heroine in Baramulla and Poonch, the DGP said that all out war against the drug peddlers and the people involved in this nefarious trade will be taken to logical conclusion.
DGP informed that because of the good work 134 SPOs of North Kashmir Range have been absorbed as constables in the department. He added that to boost the morale of Jawans and Officers, 154 police personnel of the range have been granted out of turn promotion in different ranks.
While highlighting the welfare measures taken during the past few years, the DGP thanked the govt, particularly, the Hon’ble Chief Minister for taking keen interest in redressing the long pending issues of police personnel.
Advising the Jawans and officers to improve their soft skills, DGP exhorted upon the police men to be firm with the erring persons and law breakers, and polite with the law abiding citizens. He said that all those who break the law, are to be brought to book.
Nitish Kumar (IPS), IGP North, while speaking on this occasion, thanked the DGP for welfare measures taken during last few months. He said that the officers of this range are engaged in the police efforts to bring home more and more youth, who have joined the militant ranks.
In his welcome address, SSP Baramulla thanked the DGP for sparing time to visit Baramulla for boosting morale of Jawans and Officers. He assured the DGP that the achievements made on different fronts in his district will be consolidated further. (KNS)
