Srinagar: Scores of 10+2 contractual lecturers Wednesday staged protest against the government for failing to fulfill their demands from past several years.
The protesters under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir 10+2 Contractual Association assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.
They were demanding equal work equal pay and regularization of their services.
The protesters said that from past several years, the government is screening every year to recruit the contractual lecturers but instead of going through the process every year, the government should regularize them.
“We are serving the department with dedication but the administration is ignoring our sincerity. The authorities must take steps for the well being of contractual lectures,” they said.
They said that they are getting a meager amount while the administration has failed to take concrete steps to provide equal work and equal pay.
The lecturers said that two policies were earlier made by the authorities for them but unfortunately none among the policies were implemented so far.
“The highly educated youth engaged as academic arrangement, Contractual in schools on meager amount is deplorable and inhuman. The government should stop exploiting the educated youth and must implement the policies at earliest,” they said.
Meanwhile, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
