SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Saturday said that the State Government is committed to provide all possible financial assistance to weaker and vulnerable sections of society for their overall uplift.
The Minister said this while addressing a meeting convened to take a comprehensive review of the implementation of social welfare schemes in the Budgam district. The Minister directed the concerned to make concerted efforts and identified more and more poor girls in the district so that they can avail the benefits of State Marriage Assistance Scheme by receiving one-time financial assistance of Rs.25000/ and cost of 5 grams Gold for marriage purposes.
It was said that under this scheme around 149 cases of unmarried poor girls have been covered in Budgam district in the year 2016-17.
The Minister was informed that under Old Age Pension Scheme, around 25000 persons are getting benefits under the scheme in the district, while as around 12400 such cases are under process.
The Minister took a strong note of the pendency of cases and directed the concerned officers that bank reconciliation of the accounts should be completed by 10th August.
The Minister also directed all the pending cases under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) should be cleared in shortest period of time so that needy would get benefitted.
He exhorted upon the officials that benefits of pre and post matric minority scholarship scheme should be reached to weaker sections of the society.
During the meeting, the Minister was informed that OBC hostel is being constructed in Chrar-i-Sharief constituency by JKPCC and it would be completed shortly.
Hanjura directed the district administration to involve the local public representatives before formulating any developmental projects. He also asked them to implement the decisions taken in previous developmental review meetings in letter and spirit.
He also asked the district administration to ensure effective implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes so that the deserving people get the benefits.
Secretary Social Welfare, District Social Welfare Kashmir, Mission Director ICDS, Programme officer ICDS Budgam, District Social Welfare Budgam, Child Development Project Officer Project Nagam, Child Development Officer Project Chadoora and other senior officers of the Department were present on the occasion.
