Shahid-ul-Islam placed under house detention

Srinagar: A day ahead of the UN march called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), the authorities on Thursday placed Hurriyat (M) media advisor, Shahid-ul-Islam under house detention.
Islam was earlier called to New Delhi by National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning over alleged funding from Pakistan to the separatist leadership in the Kashmir valley.
The Hurriyat (M) leaders told KNS that he was placed under house detention in this afternoon to stop him from participating in the UN march on Friday.
Notably, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continued to remain under house detention from past several days.
Pertinently, JRL including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had called for complete shutdown on Fri and have also called for UN march after congregational prayers.
They have appealed people from all walks of life to march towards UN office in Sonwar where a sit-in protest will be held.
The sit-in according to JRL will urge the UN to ask Government of India to stop the massacre of people in Kashmir and a reminder for it to fulfil its commitments made to the people of J&K. (KNS)
