Altaf Bukhari reviews education scenario in Khansahib constituency

SRINAGAR: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari undertook an extensive tour of Khansahab area of district Budgam to review educational scenario in the constituency.
He was accompanied by Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi; MLA Khansahib Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen; MLC Saif-ud-Din Bhat; Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon; Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmed Shah; Director School Education, Kashmir, DR G N Itoo, Director SSA, Director RMSA and Director Colleges and other concerned officials of the education and other departments.
On his visit to Government Boys Higher Secondary school Khansahib, Bukhari laid foundation of the Auditorium in presence of MoS Priya Sethi and MLA Khansahib.
The 100 seater auditorium with the plinth area of 3405 sqft will be constructed at an estimates cost of Rs 1.43 crore. The auditorium will be completed within nine months and J&K Housing Board is the executing agency.
The Minister promised all the support for the upgradation of the school and announced additional classrooms for the students. He also promised addition of different subjects along with the teachers for those subjects.
He announced that the 8 kanals of land that had been identified by MLA Khansahib in the vicinity of school will be leveled and be made available for students as playground.
On the occasion, Priya Sethi praised the students of Jammu and Kashmir who have proved themselves at the various levels in different competitive examinations across the globe.
She said that over a period of time, the education system has grown and now students are showing their capabilities at various stages and they are cracking various entrance in highly reputed universities and colleges across the country.
Earlier, on his visit to Government Degree College, Khansahib, Bukhari said it will be developed as a model college. He announced a smart classroom for the college and assured full support for the development of the college.
On the occasion Bukhari interacted with the students to take the first hand appraisal of the need and the issues faced by them.
The students asked the Minister for the sanitary block, playground, canteen and introduction of additional subjects which can be taught in the college where only 12 subjects are being taught at present.
After interacting with the students, the Minister asked the college authorities to make a formal proposal for all their demands and requirements and promised that it will be given a favorable consideration.
The Minister also gave approval for the equipments which are needed for the high tech labs in the college.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi assured all the necessary support to the college and said that the education department has witnessed a progressive change under the leadership of Altaf Bukhari.
She also promised the students that she will take up with the horticulture minister and will make a proposal for the herbal garden in the vicinity of the college.
On the occasion, Bukhari shared his childhood memories with the students and asked them to study with dedication for the successful life ahead.
“At this stage of life, your only focus should be on your studies. If you want to do something great in your lives, then study with dedication and live your life with sincerity,” Bukhari told students.
Later, the Minister visited Arigam and met the delegation of people and was informed about the different issues faced by the people.
