Prof Amitabh Mattoo’s role in Indo-Australian knowledge partnership hailed

SRINAGAR: Australian Government has appreciated the role of Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo for his contribution in the field of education and appreciated his role in building important knowledge partnerships between India and Australia.
In a letter of appreciation from the Department of Education and Training, Australian Government, Dr Amanda Day, Counselor, Education and Research has thanked Prof Amitabh Mattoo for his support and his close coordination during the recent visit of Mr Adam Gilchrist to India.
Last month, Women’s cricket team from Jammu and Kashmir played an exhibition match at Australian High Commission grounds and importance of this exhibition match was the presence of cricket legend Mr. Adam Gilchrist who all the way had come from Australia to interact with young women cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir. The event was organized by Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Australia-India Institute, New Delhi and was coordinated by Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo.
Dr Amanda while lauding the role of Prof Amitabh Mattoo said that the friendly match between J&K CM’s Women’s Cricket Eleven and Jesus and Marry College has encouraged the idea of women and leadership in sports. “It was a great pleasure to witness the enthusiastic players from J&K CM’s Women’s Cricket Eleven who have immense potential to achieve their dreams in the supporting fields,” she said adding that cricket legend Mr. Gilchrist was extremely impressed with the performance of J&K CM’s Women’s Cricket Eleven.
While appreciating the role of Prof Amitabh Mattoo in the field of Education and Research, Dr Amanda said “I would also like to thank you for your help in organizing the students interaction at Kirorimal College with Mr. Gilchrist on, “Life of a Sportspersons”, which enables many young students to look at sports education with a positive prospective.
Reiterating the commitment of Australian Government in the field of Education, Research and sports, Dr Amanda said that working together to achieve mutual goals and address challenges in this area enhances outcome for both Australia and India. “Prof. Amitabh Mattoo thank you again for your support in building important knowledge partnership” .
