SRINAGAR: Minister for Public Works (R&B) Naeem Akhtar today asked the concerned to use their technical skills for achieving better results with less resource.
Speaking at a meeting to review the status of works undertaken by the Department in district Rajouri, the Minister said State engineers need to bring in the elements of engineering that they have read in their books. He said by proper utilization of their technical expertise they could satisfy large population with fever resources.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information Department Choudhary Zulfkar Ali was also present in the meeting.
Seeking an update on construction of Budhal-Shopian road, the Minister was informed that tenders for consultancy have been floated in this regard. Naeem Akhtar urged to start work on the project should be started at an earliest as the Chief Minister herself has desired for expediting work on it.
Apprising the meeting with the roads situation in the district, Minister Choudhary Zulfkar Ali said in an era where roads are must for connectivity, the district has three major roads Rajouri-Darhal road, Choudharynar-Doodaj-Proori road, and Thudhi-Kdedhara Panihad and all three are in dilapidated state.
The Minister requested for early macadamization of the roads so that commuters do not face any kind of difficulties while travelling on these roads.
Taking cognizance of the issue, the Minister Naeem Akhtar issued on spot instruction for early macadamization of these roads.
The Minister also issued directions to get various developmental projects held in courts vacated at an earliest. Naeem Akhtar said the need of the hour is to take personal interest in the public works so that the desired results are achieved. He emphasized upon the concerned to list all the cases that are lingering in courts for small things, seek legal help and immediately get them vacated so that work on these pending projects could be started soon and people could avail benefit from such works.
To maintain quality in all developmental works, the Minister said regular monitoring is a must.
The meeting decided to complete the work on Raitalal Kandi bridge at Ans Nallah this year, besides, 50 lakhs were decided to be released to Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for the construction work of approach road of Ujhan bridge in this district.
Choudhary Zulfkar Ali informed the Forest Department has agreed to do the construction work of way side amenities on Koteranka Khawas road. Appreciating the move, Naeem Akhtar said it is a good step, however, the Forest department should ensure that they would follow all the required guidelines during the work.
The Minister also suggested for taking up the development of parking place in DIET complex in Rajouri on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Commissioner Secretary PW (R&B) Department, Development Commissioner Works, Special Secretary, PWD, Director Finance PWD, Director Planning PWD, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu, Managing Director JKPCC and concerned Superintendent Engineers and Executive Engineers were present in the meeting.
