Tassaduq Mufti visits Pahalgam to review sanitation at Yatra base camps

SRINAGAR: Stating that improvement in sanitation at various tourist spots in the state is prime focus for the government, Coordinator, Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti today urged the officials to maintain utmost levels of sanitation in the Yatra base camps.
Tassaduq Mufti visited Yatra base camps at Nunwan and Chandanwari in Pahalgam to review the sanitation arrangements made at these camps.
During the visit, Tassaduq Mufti was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer Pahalgam Development Authority Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pahalgam Sarfaraz Ahmad, Deputy General Manager of SASB, Camp directors of Yatra base camps and officers of other departments.
The officials briefed him about the initiatives taken by them for ensuring proper sanitation at Pahalgam particularly at Yatra base camps.
He was informed that for sanitation at Yatra base camps, Shrine Board has setup STPs and segregation of waste at Nunwan and Chandanwari is also being done.
The team led by Tassaduq Mufti also took samples of discharge of STP’s.
On the occasion, Tassaduq Mufti said that sanitation is foremost for everyone’s health and no laxity should be allowed in this regard. He also interacted with Amarnath pilgrims and reviewed various facilities made available to them by the government.
He also visited government hospital Pahalgam and expressed displeasure over the over lack of proper sanitation in few wards of the hospital. He directed health department to ensure proper sanitation in and around the hospital.
