Srinagar: The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Saturday said though the concern expressed by the UN over Kashmir is “satisfactory” but the world body should rise above the rhetorical statements on Kashmir and take practical steps to resolve the long-pending dispute.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the UN and world community have been witnessing the grave situation and continuous human rights violations by India in Kashmir for the last 70 years, there is a dire need to find a permanent solution to the lingering dispute than issuing statements.
“UN should look who is creating impediments in way of resolving Kashmir which is the root cause of continuous flare-up between India and Pakistan at the Line of Control (LoC), political anarchy in subcontinent, and unending bloodshed in the disputed territory,” he said.
Shah said the people of Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan have always expressed seriousness in resolving the issue but India on one hand is continuing with its policy of turning Kashmir into a slaughterhouse and on other is jeopardising the peace in the region.
The DFP chairman urged the world powers to identify those countries creating hurdles in establishment of peace across globe so that they can be isolated.
Shah appealed the UN Secretary General and the permanent members of the world body to devise a strategy towards the resolution of Kashmir issue as the countries like US and China are also expressing concern over the lingering of this dispute.
Shah asked the people of India to ponder why New Delhi despite utilising all its state machinery hasn’t succeeded in changing the reality of the disputed territory till date.
“The people of India should realise how the Government of India keeps them in dark about the reality of Jammu Kashmir and is resorting to worst kind of human rights violations in the disputed region. The citizens of India must question their leaders as to how the country’s control on J&K is justified and why the nation’s resources are wasted to strengthen this occupation,” he said.
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson has strongly condemned the reign of terrorism unleashed by forces in Islamabad. As per reports, forces have barged into the Jamia Masjid and ruthlessly beaten up the people besides scores were arrested and several pedestrians have fallen victim to such terrorism by the men in uniform.
The spokesperson said such provocative acts by forces are hurting our sentiments. He also condemned the vandalising of houses and other properties by berserk forces. (KNS)
