Srinagar: The father of a National Conference Councilor from Khanyar Constituency here in Srinagar city was allegedly thrashed by a group of policemen near Martyrs Graveyard on Thursday morning.
The victim identified as Ghulam Hasan Hashi has been admitted in SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
Divulging the details, National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar said that the victim is driver by profession who was ruthlessly assaulted by cops near Martyrs Graveyard at Khawja Bazar Srinagar.
“The policemen including two officers not only thrashed the old man to pulp but also damaged his eye. Hospital authorities have informed me that he may lose the sight of damaged eye,” Sagar told news agency CNS adding that his only fault was that he was passing through a street during restrictions.
“I talked to SSP Srinagar and SP North City and urged them to stop their hooliganism. I am shocked the way some policemen ate taking law into their hands and treat people like cattle,” Sagar said.
The efforts to contact SP North could not be materialized. (CNS)
