Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) on Tuesday called for a complete shutdown tomorrow against what they termed as ‘the highhandedness of the government’ and the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state.
Talking to KNS, JKCC, a group of traders and civil society said that the authorities unlawfully detained them while they were protesting against the implementation of GST today.
“There was no reason to out us behind bars and to stop us from raising the voice against the government’s imminent decision,” Siraj-ud-din, a trader said.
The JKCC appealed people to observe complete shutdown against the government’s highhandedness and its imminent decision of implementing GST in the state.
Meanwhile, a leader from the forum said that the scores of leaders who were either detained during the protests or from their residence will be likely shifted to Srinagar’s Central Jail. (KNS)
