Deputy CM flags off first batch of Amarnath Yatris

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today flagged off first batch of Yatris for their pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Shri Amarnathji from Jammu Base Camp, Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar.
The first batch of Yatris included 2280 persons including 1811 males, 422 females, and 47 Sadhus left for twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal.
The pilgrims hailing from all parts of the country started their Yatra in the early hours of the day amidst the chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bam Bam Bhole’.
Deputy Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion assured that elaborate security and logistic arrangements have been put in place by the government for the peaceful conduct of Yatra .He said that the all requisite facilities will be provided to the pilgrims for their comfortable stay during the yatra
Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi, Legislators Devinder Singh Rana and Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, IGP, Jammu SD Singh Jamwal, DDC Jammu Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner JMC, M. Raju, Director Tourism Smita Sethi , senior officers of the district administration and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
