Srinagar: While condemning the arrest and harassment during nocturnal raids on the residences of Hurriyat leaders and activists on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Hurriyat Conference (M) Spokesman has described it as dictatorial and unethical.
The Spokesman has also condemned the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and preventing him from attending the congregation of Juma tul Vida at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar which has been the practice of the Mirwaiz of the time for over a century.
In a statement issued to KNS, Spokesman said it is for the first time in the recent history of Kashmir that Jamia Masjid was lockdown on the occasion of Juma-tul-Vida and the devotees who wait for the whole year to participate in this event were prevented by the authorities through the use of force to attend the same. The spokesman has said that on the basis of sheer use of force the rulers are curbing religious as well as political rights which is highly condemnable.
Hurriyat (M) Spokesman also condemned the arrest of JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and nocturnal raid on the residence of Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki and a number of other resistance activists.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation on the direction of Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday visited the bereaved family of DySP Ayoub Ahmad Pandit who was allegedly killed in a lynching incident outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar during Shab-e-Qadar.
The delegation led by Muhammad Shafi Khan and Advocate Yasir Dalal while conveying grief and sorrow on the tragic death of DySP Ayoub Ahmad Pandit said on the occasion that Mirwaiz and the Hurriyat Conference does not endorse the brutality of any sort or from any quarter. The delegation on behalf of the Mirwaiz conveyed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family. (KNS)
