Srinagar: The wireless operators who were oust from their duties Tuesday staged protest against the authorities for ‘failing to implement the court orders’.
The wireless operators marched towards the clock tower (Ganta Ghar) amid chanting slogans in favour of justice.
They later held sit-in on the road outside the Press Enclave.
Protesters said that the after ousted by the department, they went to the High Court in this regard. “High Court later issued an order, asking the authorities to reinstate the ousted employees and release their salaries as well but unfortunately, they failed to reinstate us,” they said.
They said that they were appointed by the authorities in the year 2010 and after serving the department for seven years, the authorities ousted them with no reasons.
Ousted employees said that they performed their duties in the harsh conditions at different headquarters of police department including armed BNS, VIP’s, VVIP’s elections and Yatra duties from the past seven years but unfortunately all in vain.
They said that a competent police recruitment board made selection of more than 900 candidates as constable operator in 2009. “The selected candidates joined the department in July 2010 followed by a tough period of 14 months BRTC from PTS Kathua where the candidates sought technical as well as heavy arms training,” the protester said.
Appealing Chief Minister and other higher ups to implement the court orders, the protesters said that they along with their family will take streets against the government in case they failed to implement the orders at earliest.
Meanwhile, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
