Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) senior leader and Jammu Kashmir Insaf Party chairman G A Gulzar termed the present political situation as ‘most critical’.
In a statement issued to KNS, he elaborated that “it is absolutely illogical that a political dispute of Kashmir and a peaceful people’s movement is not dealt politically but with draconian laws and iron fists by Indian authorities.”
“The genuine and real political leadership is either caged in their houses or incarcerated in far off jails, within or outside Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
He said that APHC chairman; Syed Ali Geelani and Shabir Ahmad Shah have been confined to their houses continuously for several years while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is barred to offer Friday prayers in the historical grand Masjid and Mohammad Yasin Malik is arrested and rearrested frequently, and is not to being allowed to reach out to the people.
The statement condemned the ‘barbaric attitude’ of the jail authorities meted out to the prisoners of conscience including Masarat alam Bhat, Gh. Mohammad Khan Sopori, Asia Andrabi, Fahmida Sofi, Ab. Ahad Para, Mohammad Rafiq Ganaie, Amir Hamza, M. Rustum Bhat, M. Ramzan Bhat, M. Yousf Falahi, Mir Hafizullah, Ab. Gani Bhat and hundreds others.
The statement salutes the firm commitment of Dr. Shafi Shariety, Dr. Qasim, Gh. Quadir Bhat, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar and scores of other brave sons of the soil who are facing life imprisonment for the crimes which they never committed. (KNS)
