Srinagar: Police on Tuesday detained Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik from JKLF office at Abi Guzar Srinagar, the spokesman said.
According to the statement issued to KNS, JKLF spokesman said that Malik was about to leave for Aali Masjid to participate in a memorial meeting about Mufasar I Quran Mirwaiz Moulana Yousuf Shah.
“Police and forces in large numbers laid siege around JKLF office this afternoon and arrested Malik. He was immediately shifted to police station Kothibagh,” the spokesman said.
Earlier, JKLF chairman while talking to reporters said that “every peaceful political activity in Kashmir has been banned by the biggest democracy and this suppression is taking extremely ugly turn as condolences meetings, social programs and even personal meetings between two people are being halted and barred by police.”
Chairman JKLF said that exemplary unity between the resistance leadership has unnerved Indian rulers and they are desperately trying to break this unity.
He said that “this is why Indian rulers and their occupational authorities don’t allow any meeting between the leadership and every time there is a program in which these leaders can meet is barred and leadership is arrested.”
“Rulers who have unleashed such suppression and have tramples every democratic norm in Jammu Kashmir have no moral authority to claim as being biggest democracy,” he said.
Asking people to remain steadfast and uphold unity at every cost, JKLF chairman said that “our damaging our unity is the main objective of our adversary and it is our moral and national duty to remain vigilant and safeguard this unity at every cost.”
While paying tributes to Late Mirwaiz Muhammad Yousuf Shah, JKLF chairman said that “Mufasir I Quran, Mirwaiz I Kashmir Moulana Muhammad Yousuf shah was a great scholar, social and political leader who led this nation on every front and till his last breath remained steadfast for the cause of Kashmiris.”
JKLF chairman said that “late Mirwiaz inspired millions of people across globe and toady when we are observing his day we all need to look into his teachings and uphold our unity and resistance firmly.”
He also condemned the assault of Indian army on a Shupian village known as Turkwangam where Indian forces during a crackdown attacked common people with bonnets, lathees and other arms and injured dozens of men, women and children.
“This is a glaring example of state sponsored terrorism which is highly condemnable,” asserted Malik. (KNS)
