Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Spokesman has strongly condemned the continuous house detention of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and barring him from carrying out social and religious duties in the fasting month of Ramadan, the Hurriyat Conference (M) spokesman has termed it as the worst form of oppression.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that it has now become a routine affair of authorities to cage the Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and thus bar him from performing his obligations as a religious and political leader. The spokesman said that it reflects sheer frustration on the part of the ruling regime.
Spokesman also condemned the continuous detention of senior Hurriyat (M) leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, who remains lodged in police station Sheerbagh Islamabad stating that Waza is already suffering from multiple ailments and confining him to police custody can further aggravate his aliments and thus prove detrimental to his health.
Hurriyat Conference (M) spokesman said scores of Kashmiri prisoners continue to languish in various prisons across India and ironically despite court orders regarding their release, they continue to remain in prisons. The spokesman said there are many prisoners who have already completed their term and yet aren’t being released deliberately as part of the political vendetta by the Indian state. These prisoners, the spokesman said are also being deprived of the basic facilities prescribed in the jail manuals thereby making their lives difficult inside the four walls of prisons at a time when temperatures across India are soaring.
Spokesman said that many resistance leaders including the woman leader Asiya Andrabi and her aide, Fehmeeda Sofi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Shakeel Bakshi, Masrat Alam Bhat, and other dozens of other pro-freedom leaders continue to remain in prisons which are highly condemnable. He said the state has crossed all limits of oppression and all the democratic values are being thrown into the dustbin while dealing with the resistance leaders in Kashmir. The spokesman urged the international rights bodies to take strong note of the condition of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails and to make efforts for their release.
Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the brutal use of force by the police and other government forces in Islamabad, Pulwama, Dadsara Tral, where innocent protestors were fired with pellets and tear gas shells leaving dozens of them injured. The spokesman strongly condemned the use of force on peaceful protestors terming it as a routine affair of State-backed forces in Kashmir. (KNS)
