Srinagar: Incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Thursday hailed the concern expressed by UNHRC over the grave situation in Kashmir.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said that “New Delhi and the state government have always been trying to cover up the human rights violations taking place in the occupied territory and have used every kind of suppressive measures to break the resolve of Kashmiris but the ground situation is same and people’s are more resolved to fight for their birth right of freedom.”
Shah said Indian leadership must realize that India cannot prosper without resolving Kashmir. “New Delhi should ponder that the freedom movement of Kashmir is only gaining momentum with each passing day despite the worst kind of atrocities being inflicted upon the people. Kashmiris have neither accepted the forcible occupation of India nor will they ever acknowledge India’s supremacy,” he said.
The DFP chairman said “a vicious campaign has been launched to defame the freedom movement and the resistance leaders and activists but the oppressors will still face defeat.”
He reiterated his call for tripartite dialogue to resolve the longstanding dispute and said the move will bring peace in the subcontinent and prevent it from the destruction of possible war.
“Kashmir is the bone of contention between the two nuclear neighbouring nations and is hindering the progress of both countries. It is high time India initiates steps towards resolution of Kashmir,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shah condemned the attack on Iran Parliament and said such acts are strictly against the human values. (KNS)
