No one sleeps on footpaths in Kashmir or looks for food in dustbins: DeM

Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Tuesday said that arbitrary raids by India’s ‘National Investigating Agency’ (NIA) on the resistance leadership and the businessmen in Kashmir and keeping the schools and colleges shut are the acts done to malign the image, harm the economy and education of Kashmiris.
In a statement, the DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said that India and its puppets in Kashmir are frustrated as this movement has passed onto the fourth generation of Kashmiris and has become a people’s movement. “Everyone including young, elders, men, women and students are united and up against Indian illegal occupation. The students’ movement has so much frustrated India and its stooges that they continuously keep the schools and colleges shut now,” she said.
“India and its stooges have no idea about what to do that is why they are resorting to such acts aimed at maligning the character of the resistance leadership and the Kashmiri businessmen,” she added.
She said that similar kind of accusations and raids were conducted on the residences of resistance leadership in the year 2000 as well. “Nothing was found then and nothing will be the outcome of these raids now as well. These oppressors do such things to harass the resistance movement,” she added.
She said that India has realized that people of Kashmir will not settle for anything short of end to “illegal Indian occupation” and freedom in Kashmir. “This is why it is adopting various tactics like putting restrictions on movement of people, blocking telecommunication, internet, schools and colleges. In reality, India wants to put a ban on our breathing as well. It is a sign that the oppressor has accepted defeat and that is why it is now adopting cheap tactics,” Nasreen added.
Nasreen said that India is in shock as to how Kashmiris survived despite curfews in 2016 and a major part of this year as well. “India used to claim that Kashmiris are dependent on it but now it is proven to the world that not Kashmiris but India is dependent on the natural resources of Kashmir. India has acknowledged the fact that Kashmiris are economically very sound,” she said.
“Unlike India, no one sleeps on footpath in Kashmir or looks for food in dustbins. India is still struggling to provide toilets to Indians while as Kashmiris are far more developed than them,” she added.
She said that in frustration now, India wants to hit the economy and the education of Kashmiris. “This is the reason that they are unnecessarily harassing the businessmen by conducting raids and by keeping the schools shut,” she added.
