Srinagar: Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Tuesday appealed people to take care of the victims of ‘state-sponsored violence’, in the holy month of Ramadhan.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said these people sacrificed for the freedom movement and it is our duty to take care of them. “Among these victims are our youth and those maimed and blinded by pellets, and the families of political prisoners including those who are languishing in outside state jails. We should not forget these people and should take initiatives in this regard,” he said.
Shah said while Ramadhan rejuvenates our Eemaan and makes us God-fearing, it also inculcates in us a sense of sacrifice and solidarity. He appealed to Muslims to activate the Bait-ul-Maal committees across the state so that the needy and deserving people are benefitted and orphans and destitute be given priority.
The DFP chairman said while the path of freedom movement is filled with hardships, we have to overcome the difficulties by giving Zakaat and other forms of charity.
Meanwhile, on the 11th anniversary of Wular tragedy, Shah paid tributes to 22 innocent children of Burning Candle School, Handwara who were drowned in the lake by Indian forces.
He said the administration didn’t conduct any investigation into the tragedy.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, Shah assured them that justice will be done on the Day of Judgment as nobody will escape the grip of Allah (SWT).
He prayed for heavenly abode of the martyred children and forbearance to the bereaved families. (KNS)
