Srinagar: Soon after the news of Sabzar Bhat’s killing spread, the protests and clashes broke out at several places across the Valley while the shopkeepers at most of the places including the commercial Hub Lal Chowk brought down shutters to mourn the killing of slain militants.
According to KNS correspondent, two militants including a top Hizb militant, Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and a civilian were killed during the encounter and subsequent clashes in Tral area of Pulwama district today.
The civilian was identified as Hafiz Aqib Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid of Madoora Tral.
The officials however claim that the civilian was killed in cross firing.
Clashes and protests broke out at various places in Kashmir while the students at a few educational institutes also suspended their classes and resorted to stone pelting.
The minor as well as intense clashes broke out at Rathsuna village, Pulwama Town, Islamabad town, Seer Hamdaan village, Mattan, Shopian town, Bemina, Habba Kadal and Lal Chowk area.
The forces fired tear gas canisters to disperse the aggrieved youth.
According to KNS correspondent, over 20 civilians were injured during the clashes between the forces and the youth.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag, Dr Fazil told KNS that more than 20 injured persons were brought to the hospital. “Out of over 20, majority of injured persons have been discharged while a youth who was hit by tear gas shell was referred to Srinagar’s hospital for treatment,” he added.
The two administrative officials including CEO Anantnag Ghulam Rasool Shah and Naib Tehsildar Anantnag, Mohammad Shafi were also injured.
According to KNS correspondent, CEO Anantnag was hit by stone while Naib Tehsildar was hit by pellets.
Meanwhile, the reports said that over 50 civilians’ sustained injuries during the clashes at different places across the Valley. The injured civilians were either treated locally or shifted to the hospital for treatment.
However, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan told KNS that they are closely monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, the curfew like restrictions were imposed in Srinagar areas today while the administration has decided to impose strict curfew in Srinagar parts falling under the jurisdiction of eight police stations.
The eight Police Stations include Kralkhud, Khanyar, Rainawari, Safa kadal, Maharaj Gunj, Maisuma, Batamaloo and Nowhatta.
Meanwhile, a police official said that in this afternoon, stone pelting incidents were reported from about two dozen places from different areas of the Kashmir valley.
“The gatherings of miscreants pelted stones on police establishments and forces camps. They also pelted stones on the moving vehicles on the busy roads and in the Chowks,” police official said.
He said that police and security forces rushed to tackle these youth. “They were also pelted upon in which 25 police and security forces personnel were injured. The police and security forces personnel showed utmost restraint in tacking these unruly mobs. During these incidents 12 miscreants were also injured,” he added.
Meanwhile, the resistance camp has also called for complete shutdown on Sunday, Monday and has appealed people to march towards Tral on Tuesday. (KNS)
