SRINAGAR, MAY 20: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Saturday visited the Chest Disease Hospital in Srinagar to inspect the facilities available to patients visiting it.
Taking a thorough inspection in and around the hospital premises, the Minister checked various sections of the hospital to assess the facilities available to patients. She also visited the Tuberculosis ward and sought details of related patient-care provided in the hospital during the visit.
Asiea spoke to several patients admitted in the hospital on the occasion and sought their feedback with regard to the facilities available in the hospital.
Taking note of poor condition of bathrooms in the hospital, the Minister assured of getting the necessary repairs done at the earliest. She said she will soon call a meeting with the concerned department in regard to it as well as the status of other construction works put on hold in the hospital.
Being apprised of the requirements at the hospital, Asiea asked the hospital administration to prepare a proposal for the same and submit it to her office as soon as possible.
The Minister also inspected the sanitation and segregation of waste maintained in the hospital and directed the hospital administration to ensure their strict maintenance.
Being informed about a proposed JKPCC construction coming up adjacent to the hospital, the Minister said that an open environment is crucial to the treatment of pulmonary ailments and assured of calling a meeting soon to discuss possibilities of its relocation.
On the occasion, a delegation of locals called on and apprised the Minister of the problems faced by the local population from the lack of a general dispensary in area. The Minister assured of looking into possibilities of setting up of a general health facility with services of a general physician doctor in the hospital or somewhere in the locality.
