Srinagar: Days after few Kashmiri students were harassed by Punjab police, a cabinet minister of Punjab has assured that no students will be put to trouble and “elements creating trouble will be dealt with strictly”.
“Punjab is having a congenial atmosphere after assuming government by Chief Minister Amrinder Singh. There should be no harassment to any student studying in Punjab. Any element creating trouble in Punjab will be dealt with strong hand,” Finance Minister of Punjab Manpreet Singh Badal told a Sikh delegation led by All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina.
“The minister assured us that Kashmiri students are comfortable in Punjab,” Raina told KNS.
The minister is on a two-day visit to Kashmir to attend the Goods and Services Tax (GST) being held at SKICC here.
Raina said that he demanded certain reservation for admissions to students of Kashmir in prime colleges and universities of Punjab.
Three Kashmiri students were harassed by police a week ago in Punjab. Hundreds of students are presently studying in Punjab colleges and the harassment had caused anxiety among these students and their parents in the valley. (KNS)
