Srinagar: The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday asked New Delhi to ponder over why the new generation of Kashmir is up in arms against India while asserting that only those with weak stand run away from talks.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the world peace particularly that of the subcontinent is linked with Kashmir and all the stakeholders of this issue should bear in mind that without respecting the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris, all the efforts towards ensuring peace are futile.
He said India through its stubbornness is not only snatching peace of its people but also endangering the world peace. “New Delhi is scared of tripartite talks. We assure of accepting the verdict of referendum,” he said.
The DFP chairman termed the unabated use of brute force against students across valley as imperialist mindset and said the new generation is being pushed to the wall by subjecting them to third degree tortures in detention centers. “We’re extremely satisfied that freedom movement has been transferred to very safe hands,” he said.
Shah said New Delhi’s policy of repression and stubbornness is on one hand strengthening our resolve for freedom and on other side squeezing the economy of India. “If Indian leaders won’t act with wisdom, they will throw the country into a deep mess,” he said.
“The issue of Jammu Kashmir is an open chapter and to term it a closed chapter is nothing but madness,” he added.
Shah said while people of Jammu Kashmir and the Government of Pakistan have already expressed their willingness to resolve the longstanding dispute, it is high time India responds positively in this regard.
He reiterated his appeal to world leadership to play role towards resolving Kashmir saying the key to peace in South Asia is in the resolution of this dispute.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed grief over the demise of Mohammad Ashraf and extended condolence to the bereaved family. On his directions, Peer Inayatullah and Ab Wahed visited the deceased’s residence and expressed condolence and solidarity with them.
Another delegation led by Gh Ahmad, Riyaz Ahmad visited Khadwani and expressed condolence and solidarity with Shaheed Fayaz Ahmad. Shah also paid glowing tributes to the martyr.
