Srinagar, May 8, CNS: Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh had to face hard hitting slogans near Magharmal Bagh on Monday when his cavalcade was cornered by scores of AIP protestors.
Defying strict police restrictions scores joined AIP’s march to Gherao Civil Secretariat. Protestors were holding play cards, banners and black flags in their hands and were raising slogans against use of continuous brutal force against student and general masses in every nook corner of state and reducing presence of bureaucrats and other top officers belonging to majority community in civil and police administration to nominal level.
However after marching towards secretariat, security forces used force to prevent protesters from moving to secretariat. Police arrested dozens including Engineer Rasheed, Inam-u-Nabi and Dr. Bari Nayak and lodged them at Shaheed Gunj and Raj Bagh Police stations. Police according to AIP statement to CNS ruthlessly dragged Er. Rasheed and others and bundled them in police vehicles.
While talking to media before being arrested Er. Rasheed said that New Secretariat has become graveyard of aspirations of majority community and every notorious move by New Delhi is disempowering the majority community. He said: “to protect the unique identity of the state all non state subject officers of all cadres have to be deputed back to the central services or their respective states. Banning thirty-four TV channels just for the reason that most of them are preaching Islamic teachings is yet another proof that Indian is heading fast towards becoming a radical Hindu fascist state.
“Although civil secretariat started it’s functioning in Srinagar but it is going to yield nothing except huge traffic Jams and hatching conspiracies against the majority community”. Er. Rasheed also condemned rude behavior of a Senior Police Officer with a journalist and added that security agencies are at war with the masses. (CNS)
