Over 28000 houses completed under PMAY (U) in J&K, more in offing: Govt

Jammu, Mar 07: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday said they have made signific ant strides in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), with over 28,000 houses completed so far under the scheme.

Responding to a query raised by MLA Irshad Rasool Kar, government said a total of 42,585 beneficiaries were identified under PMAY(U)-1.0, of which 28,068 houses have been fully constructed and handed over to the beneficiaries across urban areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

The remaining units are in various stages of completion, with efforts underway to fast-track their construction.

Under the latest phase, PMAY(U)-2.0, the government has launched an online registration process for eligible urban poor and middle-class families under the EWS, LIG, and MIG categories through the Unified Web Portal of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.

So far, 8,089 beneficiaries have registered, and once verified, they will be provided housing benefits under the scheme, it added.
