Samba, Feb 04: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Samba on Sunday said to have arrested two bovine smugglers, rescued twelve (12) bovines and seized three vehicles in three separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and Police Station Samba.
According to a statement issued to INS, a police spokesman said that a Police party of Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO PS Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal, intercepted a vehicle Auto load carrier bearing registration number JK02DC-5704 coming from the Kathua side for checking.
“During the checking, two bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission,” police said.
The bovine smugglers identified as Manjit Singh, son of Hari Singh of Simbal Morh Tehsil RS Pura district Jammu and Veer Lal, son of Darshan Lal of Mokhey Tehsil Suchetgarh district Jammu have been arrested.
A case under FIR number 09/2024 under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started, police said.
“A Police party of Police Post Supwal headed by Incharge PP Supwal while on vehicle checking duty at Supwal, signalled a vehicle Mahindra load carrier coming from Samba side to stop for checking. But the driver instead of stopping the vehicle, accelerated the speed and fled away from the naka point. The alert police naka party successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few metres away near Barian,” police said.
During the checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally without any permission, police said.
However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness, police said.
A case under FIR number 35/2024 under section 279,188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act, 184 MV Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, the statement said.
“A Police party of Police Post Goran headed by Incharge PP Goran while on patrolling duty near Sumb, intercepted a vehicle Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK02BK-3880 which was moving towards the Samba side,” the statement said.
During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were rescued which were being transported illegally without any proper permission, police said.
A case under FIR number 34/2024 under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, police added.
