After snowfall, tourism players joyous, booking inquiries spurt in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 29: As the snowfall blankets most parts of Kashmir including the famous tourist destinations, the tourism players here have expressed joy as the booking inquiries have spurt once again in the valley.

Several places including the famous ski-resort, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Gurez, Kupwara parts and other areas received fresh snowfall since yesterday, bringing an end to the prolonged dry spell.

However, the fresh snowfall has brought a hope among the tourism players, who expect a rise in the footfall of tourists again.

Talking to INS, the tourism players, especially the hoteliers, said that the booking inquiries have spurt since yesterday as the.tourists from different parts of the country were eagerly waiting to visit Kashmit to witness the snowfall.

“The snowfall has led to the increase in booking inquiries. We are expecting a good number of tourists to visit Kashmir in coming days,” the hoteliers said.

They belive that with the prediction of more snowfall in next few days, the booking inquiries will continue to spurt.

“The fresh snowfall has generated hopes among the tourism players. We hope that the footfall will rise again,” they said.

Pertinently, as per the forecast, the parts of Kashmir is expected to receive light to moderate snowfall in between January 30-31 while the wet spell is expected to continue till February 3.

Notably, the 40-day harshest winter period, Chillai-Kalan will end today while no major weather activity was witnessed in Srinagar and other parts this year.
