Jammu, Nov 14: A Superintending Engineer, an Executive Engineer and an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) were among four persons killed after an official vehicle of R&B department they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Assar area of Doda district on Monday.

A police officer said that soon after the information that Bolero vehicle fell into a deep gorge near Trungul Pull Assar around 10:30 a.m., a massive rescue operation was launched. He said that three persons—Exen and AEE and driver — died on the spot while one person, SE Suresh Kumar was injured and shifted to hospital.  He succumbed to injuries at GMC this evening, they said.

He said a case has been registered and further investigations including the reason for the accident.

The other deceased have been identified as Mohammad Rafiq (XEN) PWD, a resident of Poonch, Kamal Kishore (AEE) of Udhampur and driver Mohammad Hafiz of Doda.

“Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident in Doda. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance,” Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha said in a tweet.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar has condoled the sad demise of officials of R&B department.

While expressing his condolence, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said that the officials were dedicated to towards their works and performed their duties diligently and honestly.

He expressed deep sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.

Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta in his condolence message remarked that it was a matter of great sorrow and disbelief and all the officers have felt shocked at the unfortunate deaths. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said that every possible assistance shall be provided to the bereaved family.

He prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
