DHSK Orders Early Winter Preparedness In Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 22: Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has ordered Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers to gear up for better health care in view of the early start of winter in the Valley.
“In view of early starting of winter (cold weather) in Kashmir Division, all the Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents/Block Medical Officers are hereby impressed upon to mobilize and gear-up resources in advance in terms of Doctors, Paramedics, availability of drugs in sufficient quantity, readiness of fleet of Ambulances, ensuring power backup & heating arrangements in all Government Health Care Institutions across the Valley, so that the patients coming to the Health Care Institutions are managed, so as to avoid any referrals to Tertiary Care Hospitals, especially when all the roads remain cut off during snow in Valley,” reads a circular issued by the DHSK.
Besides, officers have been asked follow the directions already circulated by the Directorate in letter and spirit regarding setting-up of control rooms at District Headquarters as well as at Block level to manage any eventuality that may arise and ensure that all the drugs are available in all the hospitals, availability of doctors & Paramedical staff in the hospital 24×7. The DHSK has also asked concerned to ensure adequate medicines and emergency drugs and oxygen cylinders in order to meet any eventuality.
“Moreover, they will also ensure that necessary arrangements like placing of curtains on Doors and Windows in Government covering of Windows with polythene wherever needed warm.” (
