Srinagar, April 13: A local, driver by profession, was killed by unknown gunmen, suspected to be militants, in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday evening, officials said.

A top police officer said that the gunmen fired upon the local Satesh Kumar Singh in Pombay Kakran area this evening.

He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, the officer said. Later he was shifted to SKIMS here. “He was brought dead to SKIMS,” a senior doctor at the Valley’s tertiary care hospital here said. The man had gunshot injury to the head, the doctor said. “He was brought to hospital in unconscious state. He had no central pulse or peripheral pulses,” the doctor added.

“Civilian Satesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Kulgam, succumbed to his injuries at hospital. (Militants) involved in this gruesome crime will be neutralised soon,” police said in a tweet, adding, “Search to track the involved (militants is) in progress.”
