Srinagar: Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) has urged the government to consider the genuine demands of the employees of the Power Development Department and restore the proper electricity supply in the Valley. TAAK also called upon the protesting employees to call off the strike for the larger interests of the common masses.

In a statement, President TAAK Farooq A Kuthoo said the irregular power supply has put the common masses to lot of inconveniences besides the budget hotels are not able to provide proper heating supply to the tourists.

“Not only common Kashmiris are facing lot of inconveniences but the tourists putting up in various hotel and guest house are suffering in the severe cold. This would give bad impression of the Valley’s hospitality sector among the visitors which would be disastrous for the tourism sector,” said TAAK President.

TAAK President said the travel and tour operators are working day in and day out to attract travellers to Kashmir.

“However, if we are not able to provide them comfortable accommodation here, it would only damage the credibility of the region in the tourism industry. Government should resolve all the issues with the PDD employees and ensure proper electricity during these harsh winter months,” said TAAK President.
