Srinagar:  Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday thanked people for observing complete shutdown against the visit of Indian Home minister and NIA raids.
“The overwhelming support of people for right to self-determination has frustrated New Delhi,” Geelani said in a statement.
Commenting over the meeting held between Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and home minister of India, Geelani said that it was meaningless to talk about developments as all these projects are just prank and false dreams.
“People are being mercilessly killed, maimed, blinded, women molested, properties vandalised and there is no guarantee of life and dignity and every soul is at stake,” he said.
The octogenarian said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have a bitter experience and “we are witness to the fact that Indian authorities exploited our resources and state authorities bargained these power projects for their mean interests,” Geelani said, adding, “They can’t befool pro-freedom people.”
Referring to what he called deceit played by Indian authorities, Geelani said on one hand they are parroting about so-called development and on the other hand follow their “sinister” designs of changing and altering the Muslim majority character of state and do away with article 370, & 35A, Articles in Indian constitution safeguarding special status of the J&K.
“Soon after freedom from Indian occupation, we will feel pleasure to facilitate financial assistance to Indian people on humanitarian grounds,” he said.
Geelani also appealed people not to get swayed by “hollow” slogans of state authorities and urged them to follow “mission of freedom with steadfastness, persistence and commitment.”
Paying glorious tributes to youth slain in Shopian and Sopore gunfight, Geelani said: “we are perusing the mission of Shahid Ahmad and all other (militants) who laid their lives for a sacred cause.”
In his condolence message, Geelani extended his condolences to the families of the slain militants and prayed for their heavenly aboard and forbiddance to bereaved families.
