Srinagar, June 13: An 18-year-old girl and a 19-year-old youth were among five more persons who succumbed to the covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, officials said on Sunday.
Also one among those who succumbed to the virus was suffering from mucormycosis (black fungus), a 58-year-old man from Kathua, taking the number of such deaths to three in the J&K, they said.
An official said an 18-year-old girl died at GMC Rajouri, eight days after she was admitted to the hospital, they said.
A 19-year-old youth from Bihar died a day after he was admitted to the GMC Rajouri, they said.
The patient suffering from mucormycosis died at GMC Jammu early morning today, a week after he was admitted there, they said.
Two other persons who died due to covid-19 were from Pulwama—an 80-year-old from Rakhi Pulwama and a 60-year-old man from Awantipora.
With these deaths, 4179 people have succumbed to the virus so far, they said.
Lately, there has been decrease in both the number of daily cases and deaths in Jammu and Kashmir. So far over 200 people have died this month while over 14000 cases have been added to the overall tally. On Tuesday J&K reported 866 fresh cases while 14 people succumbed to the virus.
Last month was deadliest as J&K recorded 1625 Covid-19 deaths. The fatalities in these 31 days accounted for 41.59% of the total deaths reported in J&K so far since March last year. Also 114359 Infections were added to overall tally during the month of May.
